Public release week

Well, this is the public release week!  It just means my book is officially for sale on Amazon and will be offered in some bookstores.  This also means I can start having some of my book signings at bookstores as well.  The bottom line is a lot of the work is still up to me!  The publishing company was certainly right when they said this is a marathon, not a sprint!  I don't relate to ANY of that running jargon - because I'd only run if a very big bear were chasing me ... but I get their point.

This all has been a great big learning experience for me.  Since the last post, I've been making some great connections.  I was able to meet with a past member of the Arizona State Board of Education who was very helpful.  I've started making attempts at some BIG contacts ... from our city council here in Goodyear all the way to our state governor!  The thing about wanting this to get into the "right hands" is ... I don't exactly know whose hands they are!  The Lord does though ... and I'm praying daily that he guides my steps and actions, to spread the word, raising awareness of public education issues ... standing up for what's right for teachers, students and our communities.

Just the beginning

Wow!  What an exciting time for me!  Since March 17th, when I got my first shipment of books, life has been one steep learning curve!  I am amazed at how fun it has been!  The best part has been all the wonderful people I have met during this time, especially at my book signings.  Getting more connected through my website, Facebook, Twitter, Etsy, Pinterest, Google+ and now this blog has been quite a ride.  The opportunities are literally endless - which is exciting on one hand but sometimes overwhelming for a person like me who likes to FINISH things...check them off The List.  My book goes public on the 29th of this month --- 11 more days!  But I honestly don't think things will change that much ... just some book signings will be at book stores now.

I - of course - would love for you to buy my book and let me know what you think about it.  This is truly a grass roots movement that needs ALL the support it can get.  I want to raise awareness of some not-so-pretty issues in public education while giving our teachers (still in the trenches, educating 95% of American school children) a real, consolidated, confident VOICE.  Whether you're a teacher yourself, a parent, a grandparent, a caregiver, a business person, a concerned citizen or a college student ... this book matters to you.  Public education has an effect on each and every one of us!
